KLCC Park and Aquaria KLCC — complete visitor guide
Last reviewed
Is Aquaria KLCC worth the entry fee?
For families with children, yes. The 90-metre underwater tunnel with sharks and rays is the highlight, and you get 1.5–2 hours of solid content for MYR 75 adults / MYR 55 children (3–12). KLCC Park itself is free and excellent for a morning walk or evening fountain show.
KLCC Park and Aquaria KLCC sit at the base of the Petronas Twin Towers, giving this corner of Kuala Lumpur an unusual combination of city-park calm and underwater excitement. The park is free and popular with joggers, families, and evening strollers; Aquaria occupies the lower ground floor of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, accessed from within the KLCC complex.
Both work well as extensions of a Petronas Towers visit — most people who book tower tickets end up spending 3–4 hours in this precinct anyway.
KLCC Park
The 50-acre park wraps around the southern and eastern sides of the Petronas Towers. It opened in 1998 alongside the towers and was designed by Roberto Burle Marx, the Brazilian landscape architect. The design uses native Malaysian plants throughout.
What the park offers:
- Jogging track: An 850-metre rubberised track around the park perimeter, busy 6–9 am and 5–7 pm with local residents.
- Wading pool (Symphony Lake children’s pool): A free shallow water feature popular with young children. Bring a change of clothes; it is exactly what it looks like on a hot day.
- Lake: The central lake is the backdrop for the fountain shows. The lake’s edge paths are pleasant for an evening walk.
- Petrosains discovery centre: A science and technology museum inside Suria KLCC mall, aimed at children 5–12. Separate admission MYR 35–45.
Fountain shows (free): The Symphony Lake fountain show runs at 8:00 pm, 9:00 pm, and 10:00 pm nightly. The 8 pm show is the most watched and the park fills up 20 minutes before it starts. Arrive by 7:40 pm to get a clear view from the lakeside. The show lasts approximately 10 minutes and combines water jets with music and lighting.
Entry to the park is free and the gates are open from 7 am until midnight.
Aquaria KLCC
Aquaria KLCC opened in 2006 in the basement of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, connected to the KLCC shopping complex via an underground walkway. It holds 5,000 species of freshwater and marine animals across a series of themed exhibits.
Ticket prices (2026):
| Category | Price |
|---|---|
| Adult | MYR 75 (~USD 19) |
| Child 3–12 | MYR 55 (~USD 14) |
| Child under 3 | Free |
| Senior (60+) | MYR 55 |
Opening hours: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm daily (last entry 7:00 pm).
Where to buy: At the door or online. Queues at the ticket counter can be 20–30 minutes on weekends and school holidays — online purchase skips this.
Kuala lumpur aquaria klcc entrance e ticketWhat you will see
Living Ocean (80,000-litre tank): The main tank houses nurse sharks, sand tiger sharks, leopard sharks, giant stingrays, and large schools of reef fish. The 90-metre underwater moving walkway through this tank is the centrepiece — you are surrounded on three sides and above by marine life. Allow 15–20 minutes here; you can step off the moving walkway onto a static viewing platform.
Freshwater galleries: River systems from around Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Arapaima (giant Amazonian fish, also present in some Malaysian river systems), catfish, and freshwater turtles. Well-signed for educational content.
Jungle trail: A section replicating Malaysian forest floor, with giant centipedes, stick insects, and snakes. Glass-enclosed vivariums; good for children who are interested in reptiles.
Coral reef gallery: Smaller tanks with clownfish, sea horses, and coral species. More intimate than the main tunnel but the coral health visible in the tanks is genuine.
Touch pool: Available at scheduled times; check the daily programme at the entrance. Allows interaction with starfish and horseshoe crabs.
Feeding sessions: Sand tiger shark and stingray feeding happens on a scheduled basis (usually 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm; confirm times on arrival). Diver shows inside the main tank are particularly popular with children.
Honest assessment
Aquaria KLCC is a solid mid-size aquarium — not in the top tier of Asian aquaria (Ocean Park Hong Kong and S.E.A. Aquarium Singapore are larger), but perfectly well-maintained with genuine variety. The 90-metre tunnel is genuinely impressive and not a gimmick. The freshwater section is more interesting than most aquaria manage because it focuses on Malaysian river ecology.
The main weakness is overcrowding on weekends and school holidays — the moving walkway becomes a bottleneck. Go on a weekday morning for the best experience.
Planning the combined KLCC visit
Suggested sequence (family day):
- Arrive at KLCC Monorail or LRT KLCC station at 9:00 am.
- Walk the park before the heat builds (30 minutes).
- Aquaria KLCC opens at 10:00 am — join at opening before tour groups arrive.
- Lunch in Suria KLCC food court (ground floor, MYR 15–25 per person for local food).
- Petronas Towers for a booked afternoon slot (see our Petronas Twin Towers guide for booking strategy).
- Return to the park at 7:40 pm for the 8:00 pm fountain show.
This is a full and genuinely varied day. Build in flexibility — the aquarium is easily 2 hours with children.
Getting to KLCC
LRT: KLCC station on the Kelana Jaya line is directly connected to Suria KLCC mall. From Bukit Bintang, take the Monorail to Bukit Nanas then walk or take a short Grab to KLCC.
Grab: MYR 8–15 from most central hotels. Drop-off at Suria KLCC main entrance on Jalan Ampang.
Parking: Available under Suria KLCC; validated parking with a mall purchase significantly reduces the rate. During weekday daytime, this is manageable. Weekend afternoons, parking is a significant delay.

Frequently asked questions about KLCC Park and Aquaria
Is KLCC Park free to enter?
Yes. The park is free to enter and open daily from 7 am to midnight. The wading pool and jogging track are free. The fountain shows are free. The only paid component in the immediate KLCC precinct is Aquaria KLCC and the Petronas Towers observation deck.
What time is the KLCC fountain show?
The Symphony Lake fountain show runs nightly at 8:00 pm, 9:00 pm, and 10:00 pm. The 8 pm show is the most attended. Arrive by 7:40 pm for a good viewing position on the lakeside.
How long does Aquaria KLCC take?
Most visitors spend 1.5–2 hours inside. With children who want to spend time at each tank and attend a feeding show, allow 2.5 hours. The aquarium does not feel rushed at this pace.
Is Aquaria KLCC suitable for toddlers?
Yes — children under 3 are free, the space is pram-accessible, and the underwater tunnel is low-level enough for small children to see clearly. The touch pool (scheduled times) is a highlight for children 3–8.
What is the best time to visit Aquaria KLCC?
Weekday mornings at opening (10:00 am) are the least crowded. Weekend afternoons (1–4 pm) during school holidays are the most congested. The Malaysian school holiday calendar is worth checking before you visit.
Can I see sharks at Aquaria KLCC?
Yes — nurse sharks, sand tiger sharks, and leopard sharks are in the main 90-metre tunnel tank. Feeding shows (usually 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm) involve a diver hand-feeding the sharks.
Is the Aquaria KLCC and KL Tower combo ticket worth it?
A combined ticket covering Aquaria plus KL Tower is offered by some third-party operators and saves roughly MYR 10–20. If you plan to visit both anyway, it is worth checking. See our KL Tower guide for the tower side.
